Week 5: Audio Principles-Assessment 1: Presentation

Had another meeting on Wednesday to discuss the presentation. So far we've decided on a theme with 'The Three Little Pigs' and have done research into how we are going to record the sound effects, which includes editing, recording techniques, what kind of audience and a brief.

My research include mainly tools and modes of editing in audio production such as, copy, cut , paste, shuffle, slip mode, spot mode, grid mode, zoomer, scrubber, trimmer, selector and grabber. These are all tools and mode to do with editing audio recordings and are relevant to what we plan to do for a sound track. Now all that's left to do is place the information into some kind of order using Powerpoint.

Week 4: Audio Principles-Assessment 1: Presentation

We've decided to do a soundtrack for a story. My contribution to this is to introduce one of the books I've already written as the base for this but whether we use it as our template for this project or not is upto the rest of group. I brought it into the workshop on Friday and showed it to them. The decision was that my book didn't contain enough potential for sound effects and as such won't be used as the basis.

So far childrens books seem to the best bet for our project as they are simple to read and contain the most potential for creating a soundtrack. So far we have looked at Disney stories and other child orientated fiction but have yet to come to a decision.

Week 3: Audio Principles-Assessment 1: Presentation

Today we were asked to create a soundtrack for a piece of media. This could be anything except a music video because we aren't allowed to use music tracks or human voices in this audio project. All we're allowed to use is sound effects (e.g. the roar of a car engine). My group and myself have come up with some ideas for this assignment, which includes, computer games, stories, cartoons, film trailers and poems but we haven't as yet come to a decision on which to choose and one of our group was missing from our meeting on Friday lunchtime when we were discussing this.
